Founded in February 2021, bigblackbooks is the new blog for black readers, writers, and publishers. We publish the content you deserve weekly, spotlight an exciting genre every other month, and release annual issues that put emerging writers in conversation with the big voices.
EVERY MONTH
We publish the content you deserve weekly (think author essays, book extracts, giveaways, news, interviews, reading lists, opinion, reviews, and more). We also spotlight a new genre or theme every other month. From women’s self-help and young adult verse novels to American satire and British children’s classics, we do it all.
This October is for ‘The Perfect Book Club Book’.
ONCE A YEAR
Our issues are dedicated to featuring promising emerging writers and putting them in conversation with the big, established voices. Featuring fiction, non-fiction, and the rest, our inaugural issue sits between the persistence of history and our hope for a future, the politics of desire and what gets published. If you are an emerging fiction, non-fiction, or other writer with few to no publications, or an established writer who would like to work with us, please submit to Issue 2 in 2024.
